Marcel Lennartz (Heerlen, NL, 1972) studied Graphic Design at Karel de Grote Hogeschool (Sint Lucas), at Plantin Institute for Typography and Photography at Technicum Noord Antwerpen. After a workshop with the French portrait photographer Richard Dumas in Paris he knew that (portrait) photography was his goal. Marcel works and lives in Antwerp (B).
“I talk and discuss about images daily. Photography has been one of my biggest interests for years and for the past six years I have really wanted to take photographs at a professional level instead of only talking about them. I am interested in people and I like to watch them, not as a voyeur but as someone who finds personal contact most important. People I photograph are always aware of being photographed.”
His portraits have been published in Belgian and international magazines and newspapers including De Standaard, Welt am Sonntag, Politiken and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
